Jerry Sandusky gets his comeuppance.

This story broke yesterday, and was followed by the usual suspects on Twitter and Facebook calling on him to get a taste of his own medicine when he goes to prison, in fact glorying in the thought.

NO, people. Just no. Rape is wrong, no matter who is the perpetrator and who is the victim, no matter if it happens in prison or out. No, your jokes about Bubba, the Tickle Monster, and Dropping the Soap are not funny. This reminds me of the bloodthirsty hordes during the Republican debates, cheering on Rick Perry for having executed 200+ prisoners. This sort of petty revenge has nothing to do with justice. Justice would entail Jerry Sandusky spending a (rape-free) life prison term.

Unfortunately, given the fact that prison rape is a nationwide problem, unless Sandusky is sequestered from the general population, he will probably be raped. This is not something to celebrate. I'm glad he got convicted. But he does not deserve to be violated while serving out his term. No one does.
